The shared ledger for people who live together.
EvenHearth keeps track of what a household spends together, what each person spends on their own, and who owes whom when the month ends. Trips and projects run on their own ledgers, so a renovation or a long weekend stays out of the month’s numbers.

The month
From the till to a settled month.

At the till
Tap Add and photograph the receipt, or use the keypad and type the total. A long receipt can take more than one photo, and a photo already on your phone works too.

Line by line
EvenHearth reads the merchant, the date, every line, the taxes and the total into a draft. You check it before it counts. Then you choose who each line belongs to: you, the other person, the household split, or a split of your own.

When the month ends
Close the month and EvenHearth works out who owes whom. Pay each other however you like, e-transfer included, record it, and both of you confirm it. Once a month is closed, a correction goes in as an adjusting entry instead of rewriting what was there, so you can always see what changed.

Bills that repeat
Set up hydro, internet or a subscription once, and EvenHearth reminds you when it’s due.
Splits that change
If your split changes from 50/50 to 60/40, it changes from that month on. The months before keep the split they had.
Someone not signed up yet
Hold a place in the household for someone before they join, with their share already set.
Ventures
Some spending doesn’t belong to a month.
Our spreadsheet always had a separate tab for the backyard. In EvenHearth that’s a venture: a trip or a project with its own people, its own budget, its own split and its own settlement.
Projects
Work with a budget and an end: a renovation, a big repair, a new fence. Watch the budget as the receipts come in, and settle up when it’s done.
Trips
Somewhere you went together, or somewhere you’re going. Track what it cost and who paid for what, then settle up when you’re home. When friends join as guests, the trip splits evenly across everyone.
Guests
A friend on the trip can add expenses and settle up without creating an account. A guest sees that one venture and nothing else of your household.
Settled separately
A venture’s money is kept out of the monthly settlement. Closing the month doesn’t settle the trip, and closing the trip doesn’t touch the month.
In your browser
Invoices that arrive by email.
Plenty of bills never come on paper. Open the invoice or PDF in your browser, press the EvenHearth button, and it reads the total, the merchant and the date. You check the form, and it’s posted to your household or an open venture.
It sees only the tab you use it on, and you sign it in from EvenHearth itself, so it never asks for your password. It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Firefox.
On the web
The same ledger in your browser.
The same household and the same ledger on a computer, with room to see the whole month at once. To photograph a receipt from there, scan a code and your phone takes over.

Where it runs
EvenHearth runs in the browser today, at evenhearth.com. The Android app is in testing, and iOS comes after it. All three are built from one codebase, so a household sees the same numbers on every device. The browser extension works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Firefox.

- It doesn’t connect to bank accounts yet. You add purchases yourself, or photograph the receipt.
- It doesn’t move money. You pay each other however you already do, and EvenHearth records the payment.
- It has no ads.
- You can export all of your records whenever you want.
