Privacy policy

This policy covers maliko.ca, the Maliko Labs company website. EvenHearth has its own privacy policy, which you’ll see inside the app before you use it.

The short version

This site has no accounts, no forms, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. We don’t know who you are unless you email us.

What the site collects

Nothing on its own. The pages are static files, and they load no scripts, fonts or images from anyone else. Nothing is stored in your browser: no cookies, no local storage, no tracking pixels. The one piece of code on the site, the split calculator on the home page, runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

The site is served from a server Maliko Labs operates in British Columbia. Like any web server, it keeps a technical log of requests (IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time), which we use to keep the site running and to protect it from abuse. Those logs are deleted after 14 days. We don’t use them to identify or profile visitors.

If you email us

We receive your email address, what you write, and any attachments. We use them to reply to you and to keep ordinary business records. We keep correspondence for as long as the matter is open, and for up to two years afterward so we can pick up a thread you return to, then we delete it. Where tax or corporate law requires us to keep a record longer, we keep that record for as long as the law says.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it except with the service providers named here, or where the law requires it.

Where your information is held

The website and its logs sit on a server we operate in British Columbia.

Email is different. Our email runs on Google Workspace, and Google stores and processes it on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. While your information is in another country it’s subject to that country’s laws, and courts and government agencies there can compel access to it under their own rules. If you’d rather not send us something by email, write to us instead once our mailing address is published, or call the number on our contact page.

How we protect it

The site is served only over HTTPS, and a content security policy stops the pages loading code from anyone else. Access to our email and our server is limited to the people who run the company, and request logs are deleted on the schedule above rather than kept indefinitely. No safeguard is perfect, and we don’t claim otherwise.

If personal information we hold is lost or accessed without authorisation, and that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we’ll tell you and report it to the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.

Service providers

• Google Workspace: company email. Stores data outside Canada.
• Website hosting: none. We serve this site from our own server.

We don’t use an analytics provider, an advertising network, a customer support tool, a newsletter service or a payment processor on this website. If that changes, this page changes first.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also ask how we’ve used it and who we’ve given it to. Email contact@maliko.ca and we’ll answer within 30 days.

We handle personal information under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, and, where it applies to what we do, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

Who’s responsible

Maliko Labs Inc. is responsible for the personal information in its custody. The company’s director is the person accountable for privacy compliance and can be reached at contact@maliko.ca.

If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled a privacy question, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.

Changes

If the site starts collecting anything new, this page changes first, with a new effective date.
